About Dr. Priyesh Mehta


Dayton Outpatient Center welcomes Dr. Priyesh Mehta from New York to its team. Dr. Mehta brings his specialty of Sports and Interventional Pain to the practice. He will be an asset to DOC's Pain department and will also be heading the new Sports Medicine Practice.

Dr. Mehta attended The University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine, and completed his Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency at New York Presbyterian Hospital - the University hospitals for Cornell and Columbia University in New York City. He subsequently completed a Sports Medicine and Interventional Pain fellowship at The Hospital for Special Surgery, ranked #1 in Orthopaedics Nationwide.

Dr. Mehta specializes in the non-operative treatment of sports related injuries as well as chronic pain conditions. He has specialized training in Interventional Pain Medicine and employs novel techniques including nerve blocks for chronic pain conditions, ultrasound guided musculoskeletal injections and regenerative medicine techniques including Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP).

Dr. Mehta served as the team physician for multiple Division 1 Athletics including Columbia University, St. Peters College and St. Johns University. He has also served as volunteer physician coverage for the New York Marathon. He now plans to participate as one of the team physicians for the Dayton Dutch Lions soccer team.

Dr. Mehta has over 14 year of research in clinical and basic science performed at the Cleveland Clinic, Massachusetts General Hospital and Hospital for Special Surgery. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and has presented at national conferences including the American Society of Sports Medicine. Dr. Mehta now serves as the principal investigator for DOC Research already leading three new research studies in chronic back pain, flu, and PRP.

Dr. Mehta's approach has always been and will continue to be on patient education and returning patients to full mobility so that they can get back to their lives, children and jobs, whether it be shuttling around kids to soccer practice or returning to their professional athletic team in time for the championships.
